-------------------------------------

BKCC has inherited the bi-annual Crafts in Chelsea Festival series from PS11 and the {NewNew} York Etsy Group. This autumn's event takes place Saturday, October 15 and happening - as it always is - on West 21st Street between 8th and 9th Aves in Chelsea. This hugely popular street festival helps to fund PS11's wonderful arts programs, with vendors and activities all day in the street and in PS11's schoolyard.

BKCC has many Brooklyn craft festivals under its belt, and assisted in curating the East Village's annual Fourth Arts Block Festival & Block Party last year, as well as MAKE Magazine's spectacular Maker Faire in Queens. Now BKCC adopts this amazing Chelsea event full on, flexing its curatorial and promotional muscle to make this year's Fall Festival the best one ever. Over 100 local designers and makers of handmade wares and food will set up for one day only on a lovely autumn Saturday, in conjunction with PS11's Fall Festival. BKCC craft events are known to draw interested shoppers, tourists, and industry buyers, and they have become a destination not to be missed - this Fall Crafts in Chelsea will be no exception. 40% of all BKCC proceeds go DIRECTLY to the school.

[b]PS11's Fall Festival: A word from the PTA: "The Fest will be packed with carnival games, arts & crafts, magic shows, special performances, great food, raffles and bake sale and so much more. This event is open to our entire community, everyone is welcome. All profits from this PTA sponsored and run event to support the many enrichment programs PS11 offers our kids." Some partnerships the school has with local arts organizations include: Joyce Theatre, Juilliard, Town Hall.

About BKCC: Curated carefully by native New Yorker and Brooklyn indie champion Deb Klein - once part of the long running and splendid Bazaar Bizarre and former owner of the well-loved record shop HI-FI (both in Boston) - Brooklyn Craft Central Markets bring together Klein’s design aesthetic with entrepreneurial smarts to appeal to a wide audience of shoppers. Having founded the BKCC series at the Brooklyn Lyceum in 2008, this is her 9th festival (including the NYC Zine Fest in '09) as organizer and promoter.
