Heavy Police Presence In South Park Slope.

Since getting off the train I've noticed a heavy police presence. I've seen about ten cop cars flying up and down the streets with their lights on.

Is this some kind of show of force or did something pop off?

Might have to do with the latest sexual attack on 9/21. It is nice to know that they are stepping up their vigilance in this time of need.

This evening there were cops on at least 18th street at 4th, 5th and 6th aves.

I'm confused. Increased police presence will deter the criminals from acting at all, thus no one will get caught, and the police will likely deem that they've done enough or scared him enough after a few weeks and will go away, only to have it happen again the second the police presence is gone. I'm hoping these criminals are just so stupid that they try something with all this hubbub so they can get caught, but if you know everyone is waiting for you to try something and you probably live around here, why would you even attempt? Seems like a waste of money, they need to dispatch a bunch of small, aloof looking female undercover cops to walk around looking like they just came back from an evening out, with no police or undercover cars nearby. That might work.

A friend of mine attended the Community Council Mtg in Windsor Terrace last week. She reports that police were present, and stated that female under cover cops are in use.

I know that they are in use, I heard that, too. But if these guys know that cops are on every frickin' corner and cop cars are patrolling the avenues with much vigilance, the undercover cops are worthless because no crimes will be attempted on them. I think it should be one or the other, not both.
