Burglary

An unknown person entered into an apartment building on St. Marks Place, near Vanderbilt Avenue, using no forcible entry, on September 26 at 9:30 a.m. The burglar allegedly removed the following items: a digital camera, Macbook, bike, hard drive, plus other small computer items, totaling $8,814.

Assault

Outside of a building on St. Johns Place, near Underhill Avenue, on September 27 at around 10 p.m., a 56-year-old woman was involved in an argument with a 38-year-old man while she was walking home. According to the report, the man punched her above her right eye, leaving an abrasion and swelling. After a police canvass, a 38-year-old man was found and arrested. The victim was transported by EMS to Kings County Hospital.

Grand Larceny

On October 1 at 12:45 a.m., a 59-year-old man withdrew $3,000 from a Capital One bank on Washington Avenue, near Lincoln Place. On the street, he was approached by two men who spoke to him about a charity. The men offered the victim a blue bandana with which to wrap his $3,000 in, along with the $278 that he had already been carrying. When the victim returned home and opened the bandana, he found that his money was gone and was replaced with ripped newspaper pieces. The two suspects were described as black men of unknown age, one 6-feet-tall, the other 5’5”. They left the scene in a 2000 green Mazda.

Grand Larceny

On September 26, around 3:10 p.m., the owner of a 1991 blue Toyota Camry four-door returned to where he had left the vehicle at Pacific Street and Classon Avenue, and found it missing. Police canvassed the area with no results. No broken glass or burglary tools were found at the location. The value of the vehicle is unknown.

Petit Larceny

A steering wheel airbag was removed from a 2007 gray Ford Edge parked on Prospect Place, near Underhill Avenue, on September 30, around 10:30 p.m. The rear driver’s-side window was also broken. Damages total $500 for the airbag and $100 for the window.

According to the Patch's Assault write up, a 38 year old man assaulted a 56 year old woman, and the police did a canvass of the area and arrested a 38 year old.

-While I feel for the victim who was punched, if the Patch is giving us the full story, I am glad I was not a 38 year old in the area.

Let's now move on to one of the Grand Larceny stories. I assume the ATM of Capital One Bank won't dispense $3000, so the person had to use the teller. However, the tellers are not there at 12:45 AM, so I assume they meant 12:45 PM.

-I have to assume they either spent a lot of time in the bank waiting for someone to withdrawal a lot of $, knew the guy would withdrawal lots of $ in advance, or saw some guy leave the bank displaying a massive amount of $. While I would hate to be tricked out of $3278, I have to give these "helpful" criminals credit for finding a very gullible victim who had just withdrawn an unusually large amount of money.
