Brooklyn Filmmakers Featured at FREE Festival in November!

Two Brookynites have had their films selected to be part of the 2011 chashama Film Festival in Manhattan next month.

Writer/Star Amy Staats of Williamsburg and Producer/Director Vinit Parmar of Midwood had their films chosen from among more than 300 international submissions to the annual festival. Productions must be based on a socially conscious theme to be eligible.

In Staats' unreleased comedy short, Here's What I Like: Fashion and Flowers. And Now I'll Tell You Why, hostess Helen Pellet shows you how to use nature to help you with your fashion choices, assisted by her hapless maid. Helen divides her show into three critical segments: A Brief History of Good Taste, Green: The Blue Jean of Nature, and The Origin of Tackiness.

With unprecedented access, Parmar's documentary, Living River , examines India's age-old industry of leather production, now in a state of transition. Pollution of the revered Ganges River has been a scourge; while the economy reaps billions from the industry, it's at the expense of the environment and the health of residents. The film delivers an unexplored and authentic view of the state of the river and the people struggling to compel change.

Join us at cFF to enjoy these two very different--but equally compelling--productions, as well as the other exceptional films, a mix of documentaries, features, and shorts, from around the globe.
