  • Here is the website to check Brooklyn AC&C daily to see if he has been brought in to the shelter - just in case his tags fell off:

    http://www.nycacc.org/lostandfound_lostsearch.htm

Also list him as missing on www.tabbytracker.com and Craig's List. Good luck - we will watch for him.

  • Good morning, animalormachine. Do you have a picture of the cat? Does Butterball have any white on him? Is he fixed?

A large, pale orange cat with a chest even whiter than his pale orange body showed up in our garden last night. He seems really nervous (not friendly) and yowled at other cats in our garden. We are near Brooklyn Avenue a few blocks from Bergen.

  • Get in touch with Fido Brooklyn - they post missing animals and send emails out to their membership alerting them to be on the lookout. Also, make sure to put up fliers in the surrounding area. I hope he finds his way home quickly and safely!

  • Is this Butterball?

  • Hi Violet,

Thank you for responding. I truly appreciate it.

Unfortunately that's not butterball. Butterball is a bit darker. I'll try to find a picture of him.

Thanks to everyone else who responded with suggestions as well. I'll make sure to check out all of those other resources.

  • Butterball was just trapped with a humane trap! He is back safe and sound. Thanks everyone :)

  • Butterball is home! Thanks to everyone who responded. Special thanks to a very kind neighbor who lent me a trap. Apparently he can smell sardines from anywhere.

    Thanks again.

  • Yay! Glad to hear that Butterball is home safe and sound. I love when there is a happy ending :)

  • So glad for the happy ending! I really just wanted to chime in to say that Butterball is the cutest cat name imaginable.

  • Congratulations! I'm so happy that Butterball made it home. It gives me hope for all kitties. Yay!

I did trap the orange guy in my garden and I got him fixed. I hope you don't mind, in honor of Butterball I'm calling him Butternut.

  • Two great endings! So glad Butterball is home and thanks for TNR'ing Butternut Violet.
