Linen Tablecloth Cleaning? — Brooklynian

Linen Tablecloth Cleaning?

detour
edited November -1 in Park Slope

excuse the awkward grammar above.... but does anyone know of a place that will do a good job cleaning/laundering a large linen tablecloth? I usually bring my cleaning to 8th Ave. Green Cleaning; but the guy really did not fill me with confidence on this.

I am inexperienced with what is needed here, and this is a fine cloth with sentimental value (monetary too ).

thanks.

  • Try Bridge Cleaners downtown brooklyn (I think they are now on Schemerhorn). They do specialty cleanings for hard to clean items like wedding gowns. I'm sure they would be able to handle an antique fabric. They have been in business for over 40 years and have a good reputation among old time Brooklynites.

  • you can wash your own linen, i do. unless you're seeking someone to press it extra well. PM me if you want how-to steps, i spent seven years writing household hints for a national women's mag, and i can, and will, wash most things at home quite brilliantly.

  • thank you, for the suggestions. someone else I know suggested washing it by hand and bringing it to a cleaner to be pressed. btw... it's not an antique, just a favorite of high quality that I want to take good care of.
