Come to a Kwanzaa Celebration/Feed the Needy Event at Medgar Evers College

On Saturday, December 17, 2011, The People of the Sun Middle Passage Collective will hold its annual Kwanzaa celebration at Medgar Evers College. The Kwanzaa celebration will feature spoken word, song, and dance. Performances by Shanto, Kow Teff, Chris Slaughter, Imani Dance & Drum Ensemble, Wayne Russell, Carl Williams, and others. There will be a special Tribute to Queen Mama Dr. Mary Umolu. Vendors will provide an array of items to purchase. The celebration will be held in the Carroll Street Gymnasium – 1150 Carroll Street - at 5:00 p.m.

Prior to the celebration, The Collective will host a Feed the Needy & Homeless event for our neighborhood. Food will be served and clothing and children’s gifts will be distributed. This event will begin at 1:00 p.m. and be held in the Carroll Street Gymnasium at 1150 Carroll Street.
