  • I was told late June if they were lucky. Guess they weren't lucky, since I don't see it open yet.

I've taken a peek inside though, looks nice.
  • it'll finally open tomorrow yayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!

Not so sure on that - on Friday, a guy leaving the bar said Sunday, but on Saturday, a sign was posted that said "opening next week".
  • that's what the owner told me last night
think his name is craig. or greg?

i'll pass by there later tonight.....
  • Just came back from having a quick drink with friends, and...I'm less than impressed. I mean Floyd's has been open for how many years and it's more or less the same. I like it well enough, good beers and the little burgers look good, but it's just too similar. Of the 3 new local bars I went to this weekend, I would rank them.

    1. Flatbush Farm
    2. Cherry Tree
    3. Floyd's 2
  • just passed by Cherry Tree
"living on a prayer" was blaring out of their speakers
    blehhhhhhhh how embarrassing

gonna try out Flatbush Farm this week
i like their cheese plate offerings on the menu :D

Yeah, music is not their strong point based on what I heard. Did you stop by Floyds II. I had an eye out for you. :)
  • Where's Cherry Tree?
  • The Slope Side of 4th at Bergen, maybe.
  • Cherry Tree is to the left of Mule Cafe
on 4th ave between Bergen + St. Mark's

it had a lot of potential
but the crowd i've seen in there is very upper east side

an english neighbor loves it tho' and she's got good taste
i'll have to go in and try it out a couple of times
but that jukebox has gotta go. prego

i passed by Union Hall. just pressed my nose against the window
it kinda feels like the Teacup Lounge but with a big bar
    and no macbooks
it's got a lot of things in its favor. among them location
so it's gonna be sucessful. no doubt

i wanna check out their jukebox. and food.
    if they got good mussels.....
then they're in like flynt

I agree with everything you said up till the mussels brother, but damn did the burgers look good.

    omigod

Union Hall: we walked by to see no less than 5 infants strapped to their parents . . . it was early in the evening, and there appeared to be an organized gathering of newborns. Passersby were checking out the bar through the window, seeing BABIES and cracking up with Park Slope jokes.

    (sigh)

i walked by yesterday as well, but it was closer to midnight. it was packed both inside and outside, but no babies that late at night...

So what's the deal??? Is Union Hall going to be the big suck or do we have a new joint to look forward to?
  • I walked by last night and the place was absolutely mobbed. I might swing by on a weeknight to check it out, but I'll never go in when it's like that.
  • Subject: Union Hall

So far, it has been mobbed, but I think that the locals are winning out. Plus, I heard they are going to have some pretty cool shows in that cozy little downstairs part. Read on OhMyRockness that Page France + Silverun Pickups are coming.... oh, and I ordered their "Pallino" sandwich and it didn't suck one bit. Washed it down with a Sol.
  • What was that place before? Like a glass making place or something?

    kitchen cabinet workshop

We went the other night - their A/C works really well. YEAH!

It's a nice room, with really good lighting design. Lots of nooks and different conversation areas with sofas, bright parts, dark parts, big bar parts, and that bocci court. I like a bar that gives people something to do!

    On the downside . . .
The crowd was Rather Aged Frat Boy for me, and the bartender was clueless. They have no wheat beer on tap, which is a mark of insanity or bad taste in the summertime. It is not my favorite version of Park Slope, but it's not an abomination or anything...

Eugene Mirman EVERY sunday. For anyone who hasn't seen him and the rest of his comedic cohorts, you are missing out. I know where I'll be every Sunday...
  • I went in on Sunday, nice comfortable place I thought. I was a bit disappointed since I was hoping to be able to watch soccer games once the English league starts (like you can do at FloydNY), however, with not a TV in sight, that will be hard to do.

Check out Black Sheep--they've got that wall-projection TV, and have shown Premier League matches in the past, I believe, regularly...

i saw him there about a month ago, and my understanding was that he was going to miss one or two shows and then be back hosting.
  • he should be back next week.
according to his email newsletter, he just finished a show in Vancouver last night.
his next outer brooklyn gig isn't until Oct. 14 in Colorado

I was there last week. It's not bad, but their wine and beer list kinda sucks. It's also extremely noisy (but I'm old). It's sort of interesting, but I could see it turning frat-y pretty quickly. Nice bathrooms, though!

I'm not THAT old and agree with you on Union Hall's painful noise level and nice, clean bathrooms.

On a Saturday night at Union hall, my companions and I had to scream into each others' ears to communicate above the loud music. We left early to avoid hangovers compounded with sore throats and ringing ears. I guess that's the price paid for going to a bar on Saturday night.

Anyone here have a pet pig?

I saw a pig being walked today on 7th Avenue and it was CUTE!
