Florists in the city?
Just got an email from a friend in SF -- his wife has been doing some work here in New York, and he wants to send her flowers. Here's what he's looking for:
I'd like to send her some flowers while she's there. BUT - I'm a bit of a snob, and hate the FTD-style stuff. However, all the cool-looking independent places I found online charge like freakin' $300. Would you happen to know anywhere local that does cool stuff at somewhat reasonable prices? Or hell - know anyone who would buy and deliver some for $100 or so LOL? She stays at a company loft in Tribecca.Any ideas? I really want to help him out but I'm at a loss.
Ideally I'm looking for black roses mixed with callas, but anything interesting: a few orchid stems, Casablanca Lillies . . . you know, that kind of thing. Nothing with balloons or teddy bears - haha. But it doesn't have to be anything too big or exotic. Just trying to avoid tacky.

he needs to find a florist on the west side, in the 20s and just call them. chances are they can do an arrangement for him for around $100 - and they're near the wholesale markets.I'd like to send her some flowers while she's there. This place in Tribeca has a lot of beautiful and a few stupid arrangements on its website, but no prices listed: http://www.mikeysflowers.com/id3.html
This place has gorgeous stuff. I've been there a few times.

There used to be a wonderful place called Vervain on Hudson Street, but no more.
