The Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council recently announced it is working with other community groups in Prospect Heights to apply for a Neighborhood Slow Zone a NYC Department of Transportation program that reduces speed limits from 30 mph to 20 mph within a select area and adds safety measures in order to change driver behavior. Many residents have already signed our petition in support of the effort.

Slow Zones are new to New York City, but not to other parts of the world, where their implementation has successfully reduced traffic deaths and serious accidents. How do Slow Zones work? What have we learned from other slow zones in Hoboken and NYC's first slow zone in the Bronx? Why does a Slow Zone make sense for Prospect Heights?
