606 RD is open for dinner! — Brooklynian

606 RD is open for dinner!

Upfront disclosure - I'm friends with the owners - just trying to help spread the word.

606 R&D is open for dinner as of last night! This is the place at 606 Vanderbilt (between St. Marks and Prospect) that's owned by two former City Bakery people. I think the food is quite delicious and the prices are very reasonable, but please go and decide for yourself. For the moment, they're just open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday but will expand hours starting in February. Website with menu here: http://606vanderbiltbklyn.com/

  • Sounds great - thanks for the tip!

    Via NYT:

Ilene Rosen, who left City Bakery last summer after 15 years of overseeing the savory dishes, and Sara Dima, who managed the bakery there, are opening 606 R&D, a small homestyle restaurant and bar.

“It will also have a mini-market, as much as we could find the space for, to sell breads, cheeses, cured meats and a few things we make here,” Ms. Rosen said. The restaurant, with about 30 seats at sleek white tables set with linen napkins, will eventually be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“I have two design degrees from Parsons so doing this was pretty exciting for me,” Ms. Rosen said. Seasonal, local ingredients are the mantra in new American and retro fare, including celery with chopped liver, carrot-parsnip pancakes, steamed littleneck clams, turkey meatloaf and rotisserie chicken with watercress and lemon. Fresh cake doughnuts will be available throughout the day. In the beginning, the restaurant will be open Wednesday through Sunday, starting this Saturday.
