Does anyone know what the hell happened outside of 475 St. Marks Ave. building last night? I came home from work and passed by seeing all of this madness (cops lined up, 2 emergency trucks, fire truck, etc.) Thinking it may be in liu of a schizophrenic tenant but am interested to see if anyone found out the CORRECT reason.

  • There were about 15 cops in the grand army station around 545pm as well.

I think it might be the same guy the SWAT team is taking down right now, on Franklin and Classon. Not the MICA housing, though that's where the stabbing was a couple of weeks ago. Word in the building is he's been acting crazy for a couple of weeks, since he stopped taking his meds.

  • Thanks guys..yea I saw that post and a few more after I created this one. Thanks! I'm just really anxious to find out the real situation.

  • As per the Facebook group that serves the area:

So, it turned out to be the kinda creepy homeless looking guy who keeps walking in and out of 475. He lives there with his mom, apparently? That's what one of the police men told me. He also told me that he was non violent and forgot to take his medication. Uh. So why did that require 15 cops in riot gear? I'm a little worried about his return to the building. Not sure if alma is going to do anything about it either...

  • OMG that is REALLY helpful. Thank you SOO much whynot_31!

  • So, last week, the night of the stabbing down the street, he knocked on our door because he dropped his stick(?) and thought it was on our balcony. He looked pretty out of it. We checked, no stick. Then maybe half an hour later the cops came and said someone called to report an intruder climbing on our balcony. As far as I can figure it was all the same guy, but it freaks me out more after last night.

I hope he gets whatever help he needs.
