Would appreciated feedback on my first novel, most of which takes place in Diamonds Cafe which was located on 7th Avenue and 9th Street in Park Slope. The characters are all real and most of the events are true. Growing up in Park Slope in the 50's and 60's had its challengers and its rewards.

The book titled "Pray To Win" can be found on Smashwords and is a free download. I hope you have fun with it.

    Ebook short description

You do not pray to God for money, especially prize money. This is what we were taught by our very Catholic Mother when we were growing up in Brooklyn. I spent lots of time trying to get around this.

    Extended description

Every guy (and many gals) who grew up in Brooklyn in the 50s and 60s were waiting for their ‘big hit.’ The hit or miss was revealed to them each evening when the evening edition of the New York Daily News came out. They quickly turned to the horse racing results page and looked at the last three numbers of the total days-take at the racetrack. Everyone had a lucky number and all waited for that number to appear in the evening paper which would bring them instant cash from the bookie that took the numbers from them.

This story was inspired by true events.

Jack's been told never to pray for money. His mother instilled that into him ever since he could remember. She told him, yes, it's good to say a prayer for help or to help others. But saying a prayer and mention money in the same sentence, well, watch out because you know where your going to end up. But Jack, being a creative guy, finds a loophole and hits the jackpot.
