powerHouse Sundays proudly presents Ed Kashi, an award-winning photojournalist and filmmaker, who has been documenting social and political issues for over three decades. He will present a slide talk featuring his recent work from Madagascar and Punjab (National Geographic), as well as a sneak preview from his upcoming 7th book, Photojournalisms, (Nazraeli Press) based on 20 years of field journal entries and photos addressed to his wife, writer Julie Winokur.

BIO:
A member of VII Photo Agency, and a photographer for National Geographic, Kashi is known for his intimate relationship to his subjects and for his stunning imagery. He is the author of six books of photography, including Curse of the Black Gold: 50 Years of Oil in the Niger Delta and THREE, based on a series of triptychs culled from more than 20 years of image making. His eight-year personal project Aging in America: The Years Ahead, became a traveling exhibition,
an award-winning documentary film, and a book, named one of the best photo books of 2003 by American Photo.
He has won numerous awards, including Second Prize Contemporary Issues Singles in the 2011 World Press Photo Contest, and UNICEF’s Photo of the Year 2010, as well as commissions and honors from Pictures of the Year International, Communication Arts, and American Photography. Kashi’s images have been published and exhibited worldwide.
