Brooklyn Utopias: Park Space, Play Space
Now planned for the Old Stone House in Spring 2012, this event is also to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Washington Park/J.J. Byrne Playground surrounding the House. This exhibition invites artists to consider the history, politics, and planning surrounding public parks and recreation spaces. In all, participating artists will critically evaluate past and present notions of “utopian” park design, as well as propose their own visions for ideal public spaces.
So from April 5 to June 24, people of all ages are invited to participate in art workshops, a bike tour, a tree planting as well as other fun activities. Step away, allow your inner artistic side to be released and enjoy what Brooklyn has to offer.
$10 for first day (April 5th) but FREE (or suggested donation) on all other days of event (ends June 24th).
