Is summer or fall better for to hunt for rental studios/1BRs in the Slope?

Hi, all. In a nutshell: single male, have lived in an apartment in prime Park Slope for 3 years, and am feeling about done with roommate living - time to find my own place before the end of the year, preferably well before. Not sure I can quite afford to stay in the neighborhood on my own, but I'm going to give it a shot.

So: when is the best hunting season? It's been pointed out to me that families move between school years, resulting in lots of places opening up, fierce competition, higher rents, but I guess that doesn't really affect a bachelor looking for a studio or 1-bedroom. I imagine my real competition is students coming back in the fall, meaning they're probably looking in August, meaning I should look in July - but maybe that doesn't affect the Slope much these days, rents being what they are.

Any more experienced residents have thoughts on when I'm most likely to have good luck finding a reasonable-for-the-Slope rental for one? Thanks!

As a park slope landlord it used to take me longer to rent a space in the winter. However, this has changed recently (last 2 years) as demand for prime slope has become consistent. the last apartment I advertised was not on craigslist because that would have led to too many responses....And I don't have the time for them.

I typically rent an apartment within 2 days. Fastest was hours.
