Bay Ridge Center Fundraising Campaign for New Van
The Bay Ridge Center kicked off an Emergency Van Campaign to raise money for a new transport van. On March 27th a stolen car crashed into the Center’s van overturning and destroying it. The incident, widely covered by local and City-wide media, left the Center in a bind trying to transport its members to and from the Center. It is estimated that a new van will cost more than $60,000. The 12-passenger van was used to bring older adults with mobility limitations in the Bay Ridge community to the Bay Ridge Center, for a day-long program of activities, classes, discussion groups and lunch, as well as on shopping trips and to medical appointments. Brooklynites are urged to contribute to the Campaign by sending a check, payable to the “Bay Ridge Center” at 411 Ovington Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11209. www.bayridgecenter.org
