Arab/Jewish Youth Orchestra from Israel Performs at Beth Elohim
This orchestra is amazing - they just played in Greenwich and Detroit. This week, Rabbi Andy Bachman and Congregation Beth Elohim of Park Slope host The Polyphony Youth Orchestra: a one-of-a-kind orchestra comprised of Israel’s most remarkable Arab and Jewish youth musicians aged 9-17.
Awarded the Yoko Ono Lennon Courage Award in 2012, The Polyphony Youth Orchestra aims to bridge the divide between the future leaders of Israel’s Arab and Jewish communities by using music to transcend cultural and social boundaries.
Polyphony’s programs impact more than 2,000 Arab and Jewish youths, starting with elementary school outreach and leading up to integrated orchestras that allow teenage musicians to learn, experience and perform together.
