The Laundromat Project presents Greening the City, August 4, 2012

The Laundromat Project in partnership with Weeksville Heritage Center is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Greening the City (formerly Seeding the City) – a day of workshops, demonstrations, and art activities focused on environmental awareness and urban beautification. Greening the City will take place on Saturday, August 4th (rain date: August 5th) from 12pm to 4pm on the grounds of Weeksville Heritage Center located at 1698 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, NY 11213.

Free and open to the general public, Greening the City approaches environmentalism with a down to earth approach-- providing Brooklynites of all ages with the opportunity to connect with artists, farmers, and food activists about everyday ways to make eco-friendly choices that are fun and affordable. This year’s featured workshops and activities include:

- Artist Torkwase Dyson’s construction of a Garden Wall for your home

- Food demonstrations by With Food in Mind and Family Cook

- Transform plastic bags into plastic yarn with artist Antonia Perez

Greening the City aims to increase awareness and provide a forum to make sustainable living a more accessible and equitable practice for all communities. And with eco-friendly games for the kids, raffles, food from General Greene and Brooklyn Moon, and music throughout the day by DJ Manchild Black, this will be a day for the entire family to enjoy!
