Whatever you do, refrain from complaining. Several wise posters on this forum have assured us that this type of behavior is cultural and that we have no choice but to accept it. To do otherwise is to support the racist, sexist, homophobic, ageistic, speciestic (sp?), anti-physically challenged, white power structure/military-industrial complex. I'm sure you'd also get accused of wanting to vote for Romney and his boy Ryan. Your only hope is that it will soon grow colder and you'll get a reprieve until next summer.

Jack-
When I first moved to NYC from the midwest in the early 90s, I was kinda disappointed that I didn't have more right wing nut jobs as coworkers and neighbors. I genuinely missed the endless entertainment that they provided me "back home".Fortunately, it did not take me long to realize that NYC provides equally entertaining and nutty people, many of whom proudly declare themselves "Progressive".
My favorite part is that individually they can espouse views and articulate unoriginal ideas that somewhat resemble policies. However, they are so afraid of being perceived as exercising power (as alluded to by your post above) that they often to try reach "consensus".
Some pursue this utopian objective to the degree that everyone involved in the cause becomes exhausted and irritable, which causes them to condemn people on the basis of having different priorities, different methods or "not being as committed to the cause as I am". ...all while yelling about "diversity" and "inclusion".
I have quickly developed a love for them that is equal to my love of the far right.

"So how do I get invited to the next one?"
Hey, the good neighbor policy: smile, introduce yourself, bring potato salad, corn on the cob, or a cooler of drinks, and you're in. Enjoy the fun!

And, start making plans to organize a block party for the fall. Everyone's invited!

In case I was misunderstood, the party sounded like some bangin' wholesome fun. I just couldn't tell where it was coming from exactly. Guess I'll keep my ears open and have some party grub at the ready!
I think Jack might be referring to the recurring shitstorm in the playground that most recently hit last night. I know I'd love for my kid to play in broken glass and trash. Keepin' it real, no doubt.
Howdy, Stranger!
