GO: A COMMUNITIY-CURATED OPEN STUDIO PROJECT — Brooklynian

GO: A COMMUNITIY-CURATED OPEN STUDIO PROJECT

Hello!

Some of you might have already heard about Go, but I wanted to post more details on here and make myself available in case anyone had questions or was interested in getting involved!

If you don't know about Go:

Go: a community-curated open studio project is getting Brooklyn-based artists to open their creative spaces on 9/8 and 9/9 to the public. We've got 1,861 artists registered (58 in Crown Heights!) ready to share their work, discuss their creative process and provide spaces for locals to meet one another and talk about their community. This is about discovering who lives and works in the area, about seeing art in a different context and using art events as jumping points for discussion on larger community issues. It's a bit of supporting upcoming artists and getting to know your neighbors mixed with experiencing art in a much more intimate way.

The public also has a chance to vote on the work on they like and the 2 - 5 artists with the most votes will be featured in a Brooklyn Museum exhibition that will debut at the Museum's December Target First Saturday event.

Artist registration closed, so right now we're focusing on spreading word about the event and getting the public to register as voters, and also to become familiar with who is living and working in their neighborhood.

Here are profiles on all the CH artists: http://www.gobrooklynart.org/explore/neighborhoods#crownheights

When you register, you can create an itinerary and share it with the public! You can browse other itineraries so that you not only connect with artists but also with other browsing and exploring locals.

We're also looking for volunteers for the weekend! Let me know if you want to help me support the artists and voters at the info sessions I'll be hosting at Lily & Fig that Saturday and Sunday!

Thanks - and hope to see you guys that weekend!
