Be advised that there is a burglar on the loose in Prospect Heights (vicinity of Sterling & Underhill). He has broken into two separate apartments in our building in the past six weeks. He enters through doors, not windows (either jimmying or picking locks). Last seen fleeing with stolen items in (stolen) duffel bags east on Sterling towards Washington.

Sex: MALE

Race: BLACK

Weight (lbs): 150

Height: 5’8”-5'11"

Accessories: SUNGLASSES, BLACK FLIP PHONE, BLACK SHOULDER BAG/BACKPACK

Other Details: MAY WALK WITH SLIGHT LIMP, BANDAGED RIGHT HAND PINKY. ARRIVES FROM/FLEES TO EAST (TOWARDS WASHINGTON AVE)

See below for pictures of the alleged perp. If you recognize him, please PM me.

  • Hi - I'm a reporter for Channel 2. Would you be willing to talk with me today about these incidents? My email is [email protected] Thanks!

  • It's like Brooklyn's own "Where's Waldo".

  • The striped shirt is a nice touch re: Waldo.

Although he hasn't been caught, Have the police been helpful?

  • I posted about a friend's place getting broken into a couple of weeks ago on St. Johns btw Underhill and Wash. Another unit in her building was burglarized the same week - I sent these pics over to them (there were witnesses to the first of those two break-ins).

In both incidents, I found the responding officers to be courteous and concerned, but beyond that, not much is happening.

I've emailed links with the still images and full video to whatever contacts I have at the 77th (community affairs and a NYPD email address for one of the responding officers). Haven't heard anything back. I have a feeling these kind of low value cases (his total haul in each instance was probably in the $500 range) get pushed to the bottom of the pile. I'll update if I hear anything interesting.

Thanks, Jarvis. I recall your post...this guy seems older than the burglars you described, but certainly can't hurt to have the eyewitnesses take a look.

  • I suggest replacing your apartment door lock with a good Multilock cylinder. These cylinders are really tough to pick.

Set up a meeting of all the tenants in the building and urge them to refues to buzz in anyone they do not know.

Contact your local precinct and join their property identification program. It involves engraving a special ID number on your belongings. Also, call the police should someone push their way in when you leave or enter the building.

Also, this is a opportunity to consider either getting a good review of your current Renters or Coop/Condo policies, or actually purchasing one to protect your belongings. Feel free to call me for a free quote.

  • Is that Waldo?

  • Nah, the cops thought they got him, but it turns out this guy was already in jail on the days of our break-ins, so he's no longer a suspect in this particular case.

And it also turns out I don't know how to remove image attachments once they've posted!

  • Only the mods can edit something after an hour has passed.

Good luck finding Waldo! I suspect he is already known to the system in some capacity....

  • Photo removed!

  • Keeping his crimes low value so not to be pursued he seems to be killing the theft game...
