The 2012 RE/MIXED MEDIA FESTIVAL features an exciting mix of work across and within a variety of disciplines. The festival will feature film and video screenings, panel discussions, theatrical presentations, musical performances, visual and audio installations, live painting, and even a wine tasting. Taking up the entirety of the massive Brooklyn Lyceum space, the 2012 RE/MIXED MEDIA FESTIVAL builds on the success of the previous two festivals, and promises to spark lively discussions about remix in all forms of art.

This year, RE/MIXED MEDIA FESTIVAL is proud to announce its partnership with the MAshRome Film Festival in Rome, Italy. MAshRome Film Fest is the first festival in Italy dedicated to mash up and remix. MAshRome will presents Archet-Hip-Hop, The Greek Theatre In Remix. Described as Greek theatre meets contemporary arts, the performance mixes theatre, cinema, music, and dance mixed all together on the same stage, to give life to a new language. Archet-Hip-Hop, The Greek Theatre In Remix is an experimental retelling of Paolo Pasolini's 1969 film Medea, creating a unique retelling of the classic greek tragedy. Featuring composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.

This year’s exciting line-up includes:

•Where Classics and Cartoons Collide with Comic book artist R. Sikoryak

•Keynote address: The Framework of Culture, Remix, and Literature wit Cultural analyst Eduardo Navas

•Remix in Literature panel discussion including literary critic Ed Champion, author Jonathan Ames (Bored to Death, What’s Not to Love?) and media theorist McKenzie Wark (A Hacker Manifesto, Gamer Theory), moderated by Miriam Aziz.
