  • Do you know what they're playing, by any chance? (/nerd)
  • "Conducted by Xian Zhang and featuring Karen Gomyo on violin, the concert will feature works by Wagner, Lalo, and Tchaikovsky."

    Wagner: The Flying Dutchman Overture
    Lalo: Symphonie espagnole
    Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5

  • Cool! I will be there - can we invent some sort of signal to alert each other to the presence of fellow dh-ers? I for one will be wearing only a chainmail vest and a merkin.
  • I'll have my entourage and pet chimpanzee...naturally.

oh god, i can't believe the word merkin has finally reared its furry little head on this board.

also, is it legal to bring wine to this?
  • If there's any glass involved, they take it right from you.

They'll likely rope off the area and check bags like they usually do for park events.
  • ah, good to know: box wine and plastic cups it is.
  • I went to one of these last year and it was WAY more chill than the ones in Central Park...although I guess we were sitting pretty far back so maybe we didn't even get as close as the checkpoint. It was fun--rather than having everyone crammed in cheek-by-jowl like in Manhattan, there were kids running around and stuff.
  • At the Met opera night in Prospect Park a few weeks back, they didn't search bags. Most people had picnics, wine glasses included.
  • Also at the Star Wars fireworks thing they didn't check bags.
  • Well, I got wine coming out of my ears, so I'll probably risk a botle or two. If they take it, it's no big loss.

If you've got wine coming out of your ears, you probably don't need to worry about bringing extra bottles, just corks to control the flow. :D
  • Huh...wha? *pulls out corks* whuzzat? :)

image: you as a quasi-bottle, with wine pouring out of your ears into the ready cups of your lucky neighbors. You'd need the corks to stop the flow so that you didn't get soaked.
  • My nickname was "The Fermented Fountain" in High School.
Children are so damn cruel... :x
  • LOL at least you drank wine - we drank that crap Brass Monkey (ew just thinking about it gives me the chills)
  • I just got back from the park.

Would that there was the money to do that every month. That was really nice.
