wither bicycle station?
two other cyclists and i, all with machines in urgent need of repair, waited until nearly noon outside bicycle station today in hopes of mechanical salvation from mike's magic wrench.
alas, the shop remained shuttered and mike never appeared. one guy had been waiting there with his battered bike since 10:15. the sign still says they open at 10.
the lady in the laundry next door said they weren't open yesterday either.
anyone know what's going on or when they'll be back? we need you mike!

I picked up my bike there Sunday . . . cause they were going on vaco for the week.
I think it was just a week.
eek. -
thanks for the info. would have been nice for them to put up a sign or leave a message on their machine. i gather other cyclists have been waiting outside the shop all week.

Oh man, I forgot I wanted to start this topic.
Like me on Tuesday who waited out of there for a half hour when I was already late for work with my broken down bike. Luckily a neighbor let me know they were on vacation this week because who knows how long I would've sat there. And someone else with a bike walked by at least twice waiting for them to open too.
Is it too much to ask to put up a damned sign? -
They're on vacation until next Tuesday. Mike had a sign up, but it apparently blew down. I'll put one up today to save you guys the hassle of not knowing what's going on, but if it rains again, I'm sure it'll come down again.

Wow they should really post a sign, that's bad business.

That's why you put it up inside, not outside. Bad winds and rogue bike shop owners. -

i guess losing bunch of customers will teach them this lesson. by puting it inside or better taping. -
Subject: Bicycle station has a metal gate folks!
...so they couldn't exactly put the sign inside and have it be seen.
Also, Mike does a great (and cheap) job. I kind of respect the guy for keeping his own damn hours regardless of the call to commerce.
But, it IS a hassle when you can't get your bike in to be looked at, I agree. Still he built me the best bike I've ever had in my life. -
my frustration about wheeling my disabled bike down there and not being able to get it fixed doesn't change the fact that mike is an excellent bikesmith and a nice guy to boot. and while it inconvenienced me, i do appreciate the money-be-damned attitude that allowed him to take a week off in high season. but most important, the shop re-opened today.
thanks mike!
