WOW, what a storm!

Anyone else here in PH seeing and hearing this? I definitely saw some lightening strikes. It sounded like bombs going off for a while there. This is some storm!

    Holy Mother of Flock!

One strike came down between Prospect and Park I reckon. Another turned off my monitor, and took down my server and DSL. Must have hit the wires nearby.

... and it looks like Optonline is down too, and they're the main packet pusher this side of Flatbush, so it might be quiet on here for a while.
  • I not only heard it I was caught in it cycling in Prospect Park. The rain was litrally flying like sheets of bullets. It stung. However, I did have fun playing dodge the lightning when I was looking for temporary shelter. Cool hearing thunder in surround sound as well.
  • Actually, it reminded me of the storms my friends and I would run around in when we were kids ("Does anybody remember laughter?!").

you were out there in that?! It was strike after strike after strike for a while. It's cool while indoors, but I think I'd get nervous outside.

It wasn't like that when I headed to the park. I thought the front moved south. Anyways, I'm used to danger. After all I used to drive for a car service *flex*.
  • being fairly new to new york, are these severe storms normal? i've been in plenty of thunderstorms, but none that made me want to take cover in my closet with a pint of ben and jerry's.

my optonline never once flickered... of course i work from home and fate would never want me to stop working (darn).

OI! What do you reckon I was doing? Double everything here: lightning zaps one rig, I plug into the other, I'm so hardcore. Everything's back up now, probably lost a few thousand transistors but nothing error checking can't handle. As for surfing Prospect Park Drive like Idlewild, fergettit.
  • what's up w/ these thunderstorms every friday night? good thing i just stocked up on bloody mary mix and vodka.
