Title: A.F.R.A.I.D.

Description:

While Senza Bliss and Constance Purity are busy imposing their
middle-class Victorian hypocrisy on the other members of A.F.R.A.I.D.,
escaped slaves, Catholic-Irish and Jewish immigrants vie for survival in
the Five Points slum of Lower Manhattan. Reporting the facts as she
sees them is the witty, satirical Fanny Fern.

A.F.R.A.I.D. is a unique work of historical fiction in English that
makes use of an all female cast to trace the origins of the women's
movement using the writings of New York newspaper woman Fanny Fern who
lived and wrote in Brooklyn in the summer of 1858.
