Propsect Heights Safety - St Johns between Underhill and Washington

i live on fulton between clinton and vanderbilt and there have been two shootings in the last three weeks - i've lived here for three years and never had a problem before but think it is time to go, perhaps as the 24h diners and deli are becoming an increasing hangout place at night.

i am lookig at a place on st johns place between underhill and washington - safer or not so safe? was about at night? are there still the standard men congregrating on the streets, getting drunk? any gun violence? also how about the walk from the subway?

i am a single white female in her twenties - safety is a top priority... and rent price, sadly.

though i do love my current area during the day, it seems like the prospect heights area is equally as lovely during the day, too.
