Am I invisible?
I'm newly single and hope not to be single forever. When I'm in Manhattan I get plenty of attention from men. Here in Park Slope it is like I am invisible. Or maybe it's because the majority of the men here are white and they are not interested in black women (ie me). As my username suggests, I have long sexy legs. I'm also really cute. But sadly, also invisible....

I'm all married and stuff. And if I did check people out who weren't my wife - which I certainly don't - it would be in a pretty subtle manner. Maybe you're getting a lot of that.

I've wondered the same on a few occasions and have concluded that either a)there aren't many single straight men in park slope or b) those that are single prefer white or asian women.
I certainly am not judging people's preferences, it's just unfortunate being that I'm Latina. If only there were more men of color who could afford to live in the nabe. -
I'm a white girl and PS can just be like that - lots and lots of married folks, gay people and also my fault at times for not hanging out locally.
That said, I don't want people being obvious about hitting on me anyway, so it's a tough balance. -
Call me shady, but I've never liked dating anyone in my area
I rarely see guys that I'm attracted to in Park Slope anyway
Since I grew up here I seem to hear everybodies business so I like to keep my private life private. -
i don't think it has to do with race.
flexi and i are both cuties and neither of us can get any dates in PS. -
ahem....I can get dates.... it's just that I've been a) not in the mood to date and b) when I am, I've been in Manhattan meeting men
I do think it's harder in PS, but I have met and dated some people here. It's a lot easier when you circulate in the area, which I don't do nearly enough -
sorry

No worries :-)
At least you called me cute....or hot...or something (I don't have the post in front of me)!

By the time the B69 picks you up the depression will have set in. Go Eastern! -

so i get it the second it starts.) -
and i thought it was some other 69

it was the response you wanted. i was just obliging. -
Black, white, fat, thin, old, young, rich, poor...today's single scene is ROUGH and intimidating. Even shy attractive people, sometimes misinterpreted by easily singles as being aloof and stuck up, being don’t get hit on!
When it comes to sexual attraction, “race†is not an issue for most mentally healthy humans. If two people find each other attractive and have chemistry, they’re going to turn each other on regardless of skin color.
I have, however, noticed that some people are obsessed about marrying people who share the same religious backgrounds. If people truly believe in a specific religion and want to share their spiritual life with someone else who believes in the very same spiritual life exactly, so be it. Non-religious people marrying someone of a specific religion just to please the parents, which I’ve seen happen with people of all religions, seems feeble and hypocritical. -

I know plenty of Asian men who I think are attractive (and would date), and so do plenty of my girlfriends.

i know plenty of asian women who wouldnt and women of other races. -
different strokes, different folks.
raised jewish, now atheist. never date jewish men, ever. love wasps and irish catholics. go figure. (and the occasional tattooed rebel...) -
Lots of people will and/or will not date within/outside of their race or religion.
I know black people who only want to date black people.
I know white people who only want to date white people.
I know a whole bunch of Jewish people who only want to date Jewish people.
On the flip side, I know plenty of people who will date whomever interests them - regardless of race, religion or even gender.
Not being an Asian male, I can't speak to your experience, but I wouldn't think that being single and Asian is much (or even any) harder than being single and ______________ (anything else). -

there is a huge Anecdotal evidence there is a large number of single asian males than any other group. alot of asian women date exclusively white guys. i'm not talking about fresh off the boat girls.

Maybe you should try being a 39 year old white chick. I think men think I'm desperate to get married and pop out the rugrats while I still can and nothing could be further from the truth

Oh, and I forgot to say that I have several Asian friends (men and women) whose families pressure them to date other Asians (most of them are Chinese).
