88 Rogers Avenue construction — Brooklynian

88 Rogers Avenue construction

There's been quite a bit of action happening at this building: exterior work, gut renovation/new windows, the smaller building on the Park Place side that housed Maroc (small bar) has been sealed with concrete, and Island Bubbles which occupied the floor space at 88 Rogers looks like it's on its way out. There are renovations going on inside the storefront and a for rent sign on the plywood outside. Anyone have any more info on what's going on there?

  • From a quick chat with one of the building's owners last week I learned that the space will remain a laundromat (more high end) and will have an on-site dry cleaners. The former Maroc building will house the dry cleaners and there will be an entry door on both Park and Rogers.

Noticed the "for rent" sign myself... not sure what that's about... strange though with no indication of what's for rent or a number to call, although I assume it's to pique interest in the apartments upstairs. They should be nice when done, he gutted the entire building (even repointed it), put in new windows, etc. Not sure what happened to the previous tenants...

  • Doing laundry here as I type this (gotta kill the time somehow). Nicely done inside, all new machines, gut reno. They use a card system for the machines. They're just a bit more pricey than Nostrand Laundromat (Island Bubbles 25 cents for 5 min dryer as opposed to Nostrand Laundromat 25 cents for 8 minutes, or small washer $2 as opposed to $1.50 at NL).
