for what its worth it was on the later side of things,but what ever the bar was not crowded at all. me and my friend came in sat down chilled for about 3 minutes i went to the bathroom came back 5 minutes had passed. he begins to take pictures of the bar tender with his FLASH on to get the attention of this person who still didnt come down so now we are at the 10 min mark and i set the timer on my phone to see how much longer we would be ignored 3 minutes and 30 seconds passed since i set the timer and a off duty employee comes over and attempts to talk and ask whats up and how she can help us at this point im FURIOUS that i sat for 10+ mins in a not busy bar with no service. so we begin to ask about the fact we waited for so long and she becomes hostile and basically says we can leave. and we did..

i will recommend that NO friend of mine ever go to this horrible place with awful service. its a shame because we try and support local business and they treat "us" like this.. tsk tsk tsk anyway RANT END

We usually go up to the bar and get our drinks and sit wherever we choose. its what, like 5 feet to the bar?

I really enjoyed myself there. Sorry that one bad experience means you've completely written a place off and want to tell others do the same.

May I suggest writing a review on Yelp? Proper use of the shift probably wouldn't hurt.

So basically you expected table service in a bar that does not offer it, and rather than speak to the bartender directly and clear up the mixup, you harassed him with a flash camera?

That is an interesting approach to conflict resolution.

@xliz it seemed like a decent place but the fact that "we the customer" didnt seem to be right when asking if it was ok to have us waiting for more than 10 minutes mixed with the excuse that ONLY 1 BARTENDER was working doesn't sit well.

@tsar we sat at the bar. and like i said after the 10 min mark my friend started taking pictures WITH his flash on in a last ditch effort to gain the attn of the "bar back" who was clearly more interested in the dudes she was talking with and not us.

if you work in the service industry you cant afford to be rude. ESP at a new neighborhood bar. you should be doing everything in your power to win over new customers that turn into regulars.anyway if i was to EVER go back to that place it would most likely because every other bar in brooklyn has closed or burned down and thats the last place in my city i could get a drink.

@chelita i SAT AT THE BAR. and there was less than 20 people in the place. harassed ahahh harassed is hardly the word for taking photos of a unresponsive human who is more into flirting with 2 dudes at a bar than handling BIZ with people who walk in and sit at the bar.

in defense of the place the barback (original woman who ignored) was more than happy to get the first round of drinks but it was a small angry black woman who came over and was over aggressive about us waiting and saying there is only 1 bartender "oh you haven't been waiting that long" its not the point the point is as a paying customer no matter what you want to be acknowledged if she just looked in our direction and said be with you in a min but still took 10 mins that would have been fine.but it didnt happen. and finally the angry little woman said that if we didnt like it we could leave.

and there is NO CONFLICT i personally say F that place and wont go again its simple and plain..

Sounds like the bar is still recruiting and weeding out staff members.

...the Nostrand Ave Pub has been packed whenever I walk by in the evening.

That's unfortunate that one of you had a bad experience. A friend of mine opened that place - he's been working his ass off for the better part of the last year to get it going. He's a really nice guy. Whynot is correct, however, he is still going through the process of finding the ideal staff.
