I found it odd that whoever the grower is, believed that they could start a very visible farm on the roof, without having someone either take the weed for themselves or involving the police.

After receiving complaints about a suspected marijuana growing operation on a Crown Heights building rooftop, police officers from the 71st Precinct investigated and were surprised to find 10 large plants.

According to police sources the plants were found on the rooftop of a Crown Heights building, which is home to a majority of Jewish residents.

Police went up to the roof by request of the landlord who suspected that there was illicit plants growing on the roof. The plants were confiscated and no arrests have been made.

It is illegal for anyone to be on a building rooftop without the express permission of the landlord. According to the police a person can be charged with trespassing, and have been aggressively enforcing this law in order to cut down on quality of life complaints.

Sounds like they were just dumb, as Whynot suggested above. At least cut a deal with your landlord if you're going to pull this shit
