Halsey and Broadway area
I have to move out of my place off the C in Stuy Heights, and one of the places I'm looking at is near Halsey and Broadway, near the J, on the Bed Stuy side. I know the neighborhood isn't going to be as nice as where I'm at now, but my options are limited by lack of $ at this point.
How bad is crime/gang activity/amenities here? I always felt fine walking home from the C, and there's pretty much everything I need within 3 blocks. Should I worry about walking home from the Halsey J train after dark? I know it has a reputation as a high crime area, but so does all of Bed-Stuy, and I love the part of the hood where I am now. I know it's important to visit, make my own decision, etc, etc, etc, (I'm going this weekend), but one or two visits to an area can't substitute for the feel you get for it living there for quite some time. Can anybody help? Am I nuts to even consider it? Fine if I don't go looking for trouble? I don't want to feel uncomfortable leaving my apartment, or coming home at 11 or 12 at night off the train.
Howdy, Stranger!
