CB 8 Public Hearing on Atlantic Yards 8/3 at CNR
As many of you are aware, in late July, the Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) issued its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) on the Forest City Ratner plan for developing the Atlantic Yards. The EIS is the analysis of the proposal's potential impact on the surrounding human environment: the state will use the EIS to decide whether or not to approve FCRC's project.
A copy of the DEIS can be found here (Do not print it out - it runs several thousand pages):
http://www.empire.state.ny.us/AtlanticYards/
The community will have several opportunities to comment on this document before the final version is released. The first will be tomorrow, Thursday August 3, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CNR) 520 Prospect Place (enter on the corner of Classon and Park Place), from 6 to 8 PM. Community Board 8 will take public comments, compile them, and submit them to the ESDC.
There will be another hearing on August 23rd at Klitgord Auditorium, 285 Jay Street, from 4:30 to 8:30: http://www.empire.state.ny.us/pdf/AtlanticYards/Public_Hearing_Notice.pdf
I apologize for the short notice: the EIS process must follow a strict timeline, and this document was dropped unexpectedly on the community in the middle of the summer. Hope to see you there.
