Brooklyn, NY: Roulette, celebrating 35 years of new and adventurous performance, is thrilled to present Wet Ink who are teaming up with legendary British saxophonist Evan Parker to for an evening of music that draws connections between recent trends in composed and improvised, acoustic and electronic, American and European musics. Wet Ink Ensemble will present works by Austrian experimental composer and sound artist Peter Ablinger, as well as a large ensemble version of Anthony Braxton’s Composition 227, joined by a roster of all-star guests.

Evan Parker Electro-Acoustic Septet will showcase improvised ensemble works by some of the most exciting instrumental and electronic performers in the contemporary landscape. Aside from the legendary band leader, the group features George Lewis, Ikue Mori, Peter Evans, Ned Rothenberg, Okkyung Lee, and Sam Pluta.

Evan Parker, saxophones, George Lewis, trombone and electronics, Ikue Mori, electronics, Ned Rothenberg, clarinets, Okkyung Lee, cello, Peter Evans, trumpet

Sam Pluta, electronics

Wet Ink Ensemble is a septet configuration, comprised of a core group of composer-performers: Erin Lesser (flutes), Joshua Modney (violin), Ian Antonio (percussion), Kate Soper (vocals), Alex Mincek (saxophones), Eric Wubbels (piano), and Sam Pluta (electronics). The members of the Ensemble collaborate in a band-like fashion – writing, improvising and preparing pieces together over long stretches of time.

Aside from its multiple yearly performances in New York City, the Ensemble has taken part in numerous tours and residencies, including a residency at Duke University for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years, residencies at UC San Diego and Northern Illinois University, and a tour of California, including an appearance at the Sacramento Festival of New American Music.
