Families in Support of Treatment (F.I.S.T.) is holding a forum to provide the community with important information and resources on the current drug epidemic. F.I.S.T. was created to help families and individuals who have been impacted by the disease of addiction. In recent year’s addiction to alcohol, prescription and illicit drugs has sky-rocketed. It is our experience that addiction causes devastation to individuals, families and communities. Help is available; however, many New York residents have been denied access to treatment by their insurance companies. Insurers frequently say that the patient does not meet medical necessity or needs to fail in outpatient treatment first. In many instances these claims are contrary to what the healthcare professional is recommending. Due to countless cases of denials, in some instances leading to death, it was clear that change needs to happen. A bill has been introduced in the N.Y State Senate and Assembly, which will help change this trend. Status quo is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. F.I.S.T is a vehicle to unite concerned individuals, families and communities to address this social injustice. Please join us and let's send a strong message that we are united and will no longer allow this to continue. What we can’t do alone, we can do together.

Please join us, October 24 at 6:30 PM at Our Lady of Angels, 7320 Fourth Avenue, Brooklyn. Please forward to your contacts!
