The visual techniques and innovations of music videos have inspired mainstream filmmaking. Topics covered at the workshop:

· History of How Music Videos Came About: Mainstream /MTV /YouTube

· Music Video Concepts (performance based, short story, etc.)

· Creating a Concept to Showcase the Song

· Dealing with the Artist/ Budget / Crew / Timeline / Location

· Casting / Rehearsing & Directing Actors / Blocking Actors & Camera Movement

· Production Design: Set, Props, Wardrobe, & Make-Up

· Developing Visuals & the Shot List / Script Supervising & Continuity

· Running the Set / Catering

· Post Production / Importance of the Edit

· Differences Between Directing Music Videos and Directing Narrative Films

Adonis Williams, a Brooklyn native and graduate of the School of Visual Arts film program, has been directing music videos for six years. He trained under Julien “Lil X” Lutz, Benny Boom, Justin Francis, and Jessy Terrero, well known directors of big budget music videos and commercials.
