Elberta, the not-so-new Southern-inspired restaurant on Flatbush
Can't believe there isn't already a thread for this. Been meaning to check them out since they opened just about a year and a half ago. Finally went last night. They have all-day brunch on Sunday so our table had shrimp & grits, steak & eggs, and chicken & waffles for dinner -- all of which made us very happy. Also good drinks, good service, cute decor. Found out it's from the same guy that owned Buttacup (most recently Cornerstone) on Adelphi and Dekalb back in the day.

We've gone for brunch and the food is tasty. Though we were there around 1:00 on Saturday and were really disappointed in the service (as were the other tables around us). The waitress knew the menu and was very friendly, but she was basically the only employee handling the tables and, as a result, service was frustratingly slow. This ruined the experience for a few reasons:-We ordered coffee, a bottomless mimosa ($10) and a jalapeño margarita when we sat down. The coffee came out fairly quickly, but was never refilled. Our food came out before either of our drinks and then we had to ask for them. The "bottomless" mimosa came out of a pitcher and was never refilled so we asked if we could pay for 1, which ended up costing $8.-The food was tasty, but spicy. We ate, finished, chatted, chatted some more, rubbed on our phones. We stared at our empty plates, drink glasses, water pitcher, etc for about 15 minutes. The tables around us were also wondering why they couldn't get any service and we all started commiserating and laughing about it. Finally the check came and then we waited for a while longer until the waitress picked it up and then waited some more for it to come back.I'd recommend sitting at the bar if you go in. If you're the owner and you're reading this, you should hire a second waitress for brunch that's just like your current waitress. She's great, but totally overmatched.
