  • I'm in! Love the wings and I get fat on the Pierogi. I'll be the Red Sox fan and I'll try to bring some of my neighbors.
  • :?: why, daveb ? ... you are such an anomaly ...
  • Merkin was at the dry cleaners, sorry I missed this. What happened?
  • The happy hour was totally fun...

(In Comic Book Guy's voice): Best Episode Ever.

Thanks Emily and Andy for organizing this.
  • The blog said that the beer-beltchin fest is from 6:30 til whenever.
    Hopefully whenever translates to never.
Let's get some republicans point of view of Ratners gated community.
This community is not well represented, and this website has too many liberal voices that drown the conservative issues.
Historically, money is the dictator of all results (Generalizing). Money will inevitably dictate the Atlantic Yards outcome.
There are to many reasons ($$$) why Ratners project will be built and will be embraced by the entire community of Brooklyn.
Protest, kick and scream all you want. Write about who is coming to the aid of the liberal opposition and who is against it. Mock those with your wit and your clever aphorisms. The end result will have most of you fleeing into the abyss of East New York or back to Kansas.
What you can't afford, others will.
There are many homeowners in this community who are too busy raising their children to voice their support.
Go ahead and ask your landlords.
Matthew Pintchik made a few points in another thread regarding Lowes and other BIG BOX stores. How you're suppose to support the smaller store. Well, why doesn't he then reduce his prices so that his neighbors don't visit his store only out of convinience. He owns a good chunk of PS, but yet he still wants to subsidiize his lifestyle. He has a low overhead and large profit, yet he wants us to support his store.
This is why I await the BIG BOX stores. Because of greed like Pintchik.
What is the name of the gated community you reside at Mr. Pintchik?
  • It is logistically impossible for something that starts at a specified time to last till never, maybe you mean forever? And that people will be at Soda till they've grown old on died, surviving on nothing but pierogi, beer and instinct? It will be like Mad Max 4. That sounds awesome.
  • guest. you are right. a 15 year construction site leading to an arena, traffic gridlock, and an even worse environmental hot spot is a great place to raise your kids. i'm sure there is a silent majority of too busy parents with kids who have undying support for Ratner's gift to Brooklyn. they are feeding their kids right now, just wishing they could be at the next Sharpton pep rally where he can accuse one of two bidders in a supposed competitive bid process of "getting in the way of jobs".
  • uhm, well anyway ... not the change the subject away from ... one that s comprised of nonsense and vitriol ... but

I regret that i couldn't make the happy hour - I ended up having to work quite late. Please have another soon, and I will come to that one. Please don't wait until never comes, because then I won't have any money left to buy beer with, and money drives all results (generalizing) like getting drunk with my neighbors.
  • That construction site will never affect you or me.
This issue is about our emotional attachment with that gross trench that LI RR parks their train cars. Boo hoo, it'll be missed. Or maybe it's the displacement of the poor low income families that will be asked to vacate their homes. OOps, I forgot. That won't happen because there is no issue regarding displacement of families. Some have left (Paid rather handsomely) for greener pastures and others continue to fight something that will inevitably exist when you wake up in the morning and after you've fallen asleep.
That site is large enough to contain itself, Altanitc Avenue is wide enough that a fleet of concrete trucks lined up along it will be overlooked.
And by the way, what are your constituents and there children doing playing @ the Atlantic Yards.
I walk past there often and I've never encountered any child running on the tracks.
Tell me again, Ratnerville4ever, when do these parents and their children hang out there. I'm looking forward to a new activity with my children (Running on the LI tracks)
  • Thanks ana! Sorry we missed you.

And yes, we will definitely do it again. The happy hour was a blast! We totally occupied the lower outside patio... I counted at least 30 people, including 3-4 babies/toddlers. Not bad for word of mouth on a Wednesday evening!

I found out what "Lockjaw" was all about. Also, thanks to Kerrick (sp?) who I think brought his entire building with him. Now there's a true organizer...

I think he means that people will be waiting at Soda forever for Isa to make an appearance. :(
  • I'm sorry I missed it as well --- work-related crises that required immediate attention and mitigation prevented me from leaving my trusty computer. But I really was looking forward to seeing how in the world DH was able to manage walking around with that cake on his head.

Oh well, but looking forward to the next one.
  • Oh, so now I'm the only person who doesn't get "Lockjaw." Sigh....

It was great to see everyone. The turnout was better than I could have imagined! Maybe we can try to squish in one more of these while the outdoor patio-sitting is still good.
  • Thanks again for organizing this Emily and Andy - my husband and I had a blast - looking forward to the next one -

Hey Heather and Susan where were you guys?
  • Heather was there for a flash - I turned around and she was gone!

Susan - I have no idea - maybe she was holding a 9flights.com happy hour at Beast.
  • dailyheights wrote: Also, thanks to Kerrick (sp?) who I think brought his entire building with him. Now there's a true organizer...
actually it's Herrick but you're not the first to get it incorrect. You are welcome and the gang from my building is happy to find that we have such fun neighbors.
  • Hey, I totally missed this! Didn't even know about it until today. Sorry Stacey, I would have loved to go and hang out. I hope it was more pleasant than some of these threads have been lately.

So, yes, you caught me, I haven't been reading daily. Too many meetings and not enough surfing time at work.
