Nope - I found out about it through the District Manager of Community Board 6 via my running club.

Here is the e-mail I received about this service which gives a web site. I was thinking about you and Candissima when I received this :)
P.S. - Sorry I missed Happy Hour - took longer than I thought at the dentist :(

    Greetings!

I thought this new, free service might be of interest to you or someone you know. It could help save someone's life. Please feel free to spread the word.

    I do. It's totally legit.
It started off as a few women looking out for other women.

They now have bike brigades, etc.
  • This is so awesome. I think I'll give it a try next weekend! Of course I will bring a friend with me, just in case.

Are all the drivers women as well?
  • Sounds like a great idea. Are all the drivers volunteers, or does someone pay them, and if so, who?
  • I think it's still all volunteer, and Zipcar is floating them a few cars on the weekends.

  • Subject: About RightRides

    Hi there,

First time posting on this site, but I wanted to give people a little bit of information about RightRides.

My name is Erin Armstrong and I am the Program Manager at RightRides for Women's Safety. If anyone ever has any questions about the program they can contact me at [email protected].

I've been volunteering for RightRides for the past 3 years, and have been working here for the last year and a half. I can vouch that the RightRides service is 100% completely legit, and safe.

Since being founded in 2005 we've given over 2,000 safe rides home. We are 100% volunteer run, and all volunteers are screened personally by me before being allowed to volunteer. People who call the service are picked up by our driving teams, one member of which must be female identified, and taken home.

Our current hours of operation are on Friday nights between 11:59 PM and 3:00 AM Saturday morning, and again on Saturday night from 11:59 PM until 3:00 AM Sunday morning. To get a ride call our toll free number at 1-888-215-SAFE(7233).

The service is intended to prevent sexual assault and gender based violence which is why we primarily focus our service on Women, LGBTQ Folks and Gender Queer individuals.

To help our as a volunteer you can email me at [email protected], call our office during business hours at 718-522-0822, or visit our website at www.rightrides.org.

Thanks for your time. I hope that was able to clear up any questions you may have had about our service.

    Best,

    ~Erin
