  • Yeah, boy, I'll tell you what...

    No trivia for us, Drano?!
  • WhyFi, it wasn't Pink Floyd? I thought you said it was...and this thread is too dense to trace my steps back...

MK, you got the I3s by first name. Nobody gave last names, or said who they are. Or said who the guest on Fergie's album is, come to think of it...
SO, ID the pretty lady above, AND those other two MR BANIVORE.
  • Okay, how 'bout this - at the current rates, when will the post count on this thread overtake Carny's post count? I think that that's the next goal!

    Got yer calculator, sweet tea?
  • pitu wrote: WhyFi, it wasn't Pink Floyd? I thought you said it was...and this thread is too dense to trace my steps back...
No, I was referring to the Gandalf question! Pink Floyd was (partially) correct on the Billboard question. Back to you!
  • WhyFi wrote: If we're going to get a bookish and nerdy - Gandalf is one of how many wizards that came to middle earth? Bonus points if you can name their 'colors.'

Alfy, got any Potter trivia up your sleeve?! edit - oh, and if you like Gibson, you should read Glasshouse by Charles Stross.
thanks for the book tip. unfortunately, I'm not a LotR nerd. so no clue.

    potter trivia ...

what's albus dumbledore's brother's name and what is he in trouble for?

    how's that, whifi?
  • I was making sh*t up. BANNED FOR GANDALFING!

Keys, you shoulda let me answer the Clint thing (Charlie Parker, Bird (1988), with Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker)
Bruce Weber made "Let's Get Lost", about Chet Baker.
Although I should probably look that up before I post it.
    O WELL, factcheck me shish!
  • alafairnadia wrote: what's albus dumbledore's brother's name and what is he in trouble for?
Whoa. Now, is that in the books, or some supplemental material out there?! Any clue, Q?
  • You got it WhyFi, it was William Harrison. He delivered the longest speech in history at his inauguration, in a storm, outside, it was crappy weather, but he kept on talking.... needless to say...he got sick the next day and died a few days later. Bummer.

    Whacha think of that Pitu?
  • I think I'm still going outside in crappy weather, AND I'm going to read in dim light if I wanna, Mama!
    :D
and by "Mama!", I do mean, back to you Mamcita!

    edit:
more music trivia . . . in addition to being a member of Bob Marley and the Wailers backup singers (the I-Threes), what is Marcia Griffiths famous for?
  • pitu wrote: more music trivia . . . in addition to being a member of Bob Marley and the Wailers backup singers (the I-Threes), what is Marcia Griffiths famous for?
Oh come on, I drop in here after 11 pgs and all you have is softballs like this????

THE ELECTRIC SLIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The song that makes every bride long for the Chicken Dance.

But I got no trivia for ya...not even a little bit.

    MK???
  • she is famous for being Andy Griffith's sweetie!
    ain't that right sweet tea?

What diet fitness guru to the stars did i just have a meeting with?
    hint: number 5...
  • WhyFi wrote: [quote=alafairnadia]what's albus dumbledore's brother's name and what is he in trouble for?

check out the (hint hint) harry potter lexicon. it is from the books.

    right mamita?
  • I thought by mentioning Rita Marley I pretty much spelled it out, pitu.

This is what I was referring to WF:
WhyFi wrote: pitu, I think highly of you, even though you live in the Slope...
(Italics mine. Just tryin' to stir up some inter-'hood sh*t, WF.)

Oh, so you wanna play tough, homeowner?
Which of the following is an actual Led Zeppelin composition and not a rip-off:

    a) "How Many More Times"
    b) "In My Time Of Dying"
    c) "The Rain Song"
    d) "The Lemon Song"
    e) None of the above
  • Which TV series had several episodes (in it's second season) named after Zeppelin songs?

MK, you PS BS stirrer, you got this one?
  • That '70s Show, WF.
  • That would be the 5th season, not the 2nd! Sorry, but a great PS effort.

Care to take a crack, Q?
  • welcome homeowner!
    softball, eh?
soooooooo, which Pulitzer Prize winner put out a Calypso album?
there's clues and even a PHOTO upthread

    dang, where's Carnito?
  • Great PS effort, eh WF? I don't see your PH/CH butt stepping up to the plate w/my Zep question.

I'm disqualified from answering the calypso question, but look closely at the pic, boys and girls. Can you tell, shish?
  • nope, not a clue. closest i got to calypso exposure was a song or three from Harry Belafonte, and unless he's in drag that photo ain't him. just call me ig'nernt.

Hey Q, was that diet guru Dr. Atkins? oh wait, he's DEAD. so who was it, quijibo?
  • did Jane Fonda have a line of jeans?
    Q?
  • Jane Fonda is still hot. Right, WF?
  • Man, this thread is confusing. I can't keep track of which Q's and which A's are what. Maybe a beer will help?

Here's an eeeeeeeeeeeeasy one: MK, what beer is "good for you"?
  • pitu wrote: did Jane Fonda have a line of jeans?
    like these? image

own a pair of these, too, Q?
  • hey whyfi - you're not answering my trivia question and I gave you a HUGE googleable hint!

    I weep.

and yeah, I can't keep track of what open questions still exist. not that I know the answers.

    right pitu?
  • Diet fitness guru; actual Led Zep song; Led Zep titles in TV show; calypso/Pulitzer; albus dumbledore's brother's name. All these are still unanswered questions. Let's get crackin' people!

(Suggestion: If you submitted a trivia question, post the answer after 5 subsequent dedicated posts. In other words, if there are 5 dedicated posts that either didn't get it or just ignored it, post the answer. Right, Alfy?)
  • I'll start:
The answer to the 'actual Led Zep song' question is c).
  • sheesh you people don't know nutin' about no pop culture
Harley Pasternak of course. doh :P
he trained Halle Berry and Eva Mendes and Robert Downey Jr and and and...
    image

i know who won a pulitzer and put out a calypso record but i googled it so i can't say shait... how's the iBod doing Whyfi?
  • yeah, but who's posting next?

I'm not giving up the calypso/Pulitzer until the page flips.
Must I paint you a picture??
(next trivia Q - who sang *that* song?)

Also, I don't think anyone answered my Q concerning the familial connection between the songs "Typical Girls" and "This is Not A Love Song".
Which is actually asking what the family matter between the Slits and P.i.L is.
    Homeowner? LeeHo??

I suggest No Googling! This is a test of freakish knowledge, not research.
Except for when you are presenting photographic evidence - Google up them Jane Fonda jeans and YouTube clips!

And you Potter/Tolkien people: do whatever the hell you want!
  • alafairnadia wrote: hey whyfi - you're not answering my trivia question and I gave you a HUGE googleable hint!
I thought that googling wasn't allowed!!! Can we get a ruling here, Carny?!
  • Can I get a Carny here?
    NO GOOGLING!
    [except Potterites]

    right Fi?

    p.s.
can I cruely suggest it's not trivia if no one ever knew it in the first place?
    sorry Q...
