Happening in Bed-Stuy — Brooklynian

Happening in Bed-Stuy

Hello board and fellow bed-stuy residents. I'm brand, spanking new to the board and was happy to see all the post here that have been oh so helpful. The community is of particular interest to me as 1. I live here in bed-stuy and 2. I operate a web-site that focuses on the community. Though the focus has a bias toward real estate, I would like one segment of the site to be a source of quality information for those interested in knowing what is going on in the neighborhood. If anyone knows of any events in Bed-Stuy that reflects the flavor/vibe of the community, please be sure to let me know. The board has already proven to be a great resource I can add to my list. Any related info can be sent to me at [email protected]

TIA,

David

PS- Hopefully I can be a value contribution to the board if anyone has real estate questions that can be adequately answered through a message board format.
:D

  • What's the address/name of your website? I'd love to find a Bedford-Styuyvesant - only forum as this one focuses more on FG & CH.
  • Please, please someone point me to an all-Bed Stuy forum? I'm tired of cherry picking through posts for something relevant to my hood.

Thanks for your inquiry Brooklyn Boy. The web address is www.BedStuyRealEstateGuy.com . I do believe my hosting service provides scrips enabling a forum feature, but as I am still fine-tuning the site and loading up the "content", this may be a feature yet to be included.

The suggestion is helpful for future planning.

Thanks for the info regarding Food for Thought. I actually called them earlier today to verify that I had accurate information for them, but no one answered. Just called again and confirmed what I needed. that and the Juke Juice Joint were two I had to follow-up on.

  • Solomon's Porch is also a great restaurant in Bed-Stuy.
  • Thanks for that one Trobin. It's a bummer their site is not available at this time. I't always helpful when you can link directly to their site for people interested in more information. Either way, thanls again.

  • The Bed Stuy Business Alliance is having our third meeting today including businesses from Franklin to Malcolm X and we are asking the community to join us at Le Toukouleur on Sat. April 7th 8:00pm to find out what is going on with the better businesses in our community and to get feed back from the community on what they would like to see happen. This is also about supporting the the businesses who care about the quality of life in Bed Stuy.

  • Is it OK for businesses in North Stuy between Franklin and Malcolm X to participate?
  • btw . . .
I'd love to find a Bedford-Styuyvesant - only forum as this one focuses more on FG & CH.
If you post enough Bed-Stuy on this board, we can split it off for a board of it's own. Until that kind of critical mass is reached, the traffic for the board is better in a nabe cluster.

  • There is not a North Stuy nor a South Stuy so stop trying to create one, it does not exist and can't be identified; if Bed Stuy is so hard for you to say perhaps just use your intersection. Your designations are not productive or constructive.
  • Hey 'RealEstateGuy'...you're not stepping on my toes...thanks for the consideration though. These boards are free and to the benefit of the community. The similarity in user-names though can and I'm sure will occasionally lead to some confusion. Food for thought. Sorry I'll be missing the event you have scheduled at Le Toukouleur. Certainly interested, but will be away this weekend. They (Le Toukouleur) have been absolutely fabulous in hosting community events. May they be around 'forever' :D. Let me know if the event is a definate and I'll post a notice on my site's events section.

    Hi Jeannette,

I'll be canvasing the neighborhood some more soon to try and 'spot' these new 'highlights of the community'. The B*Shine list-serve has great potential and seems to be generating more 'dialogue' these days. It's great to see these various resources emerging to the benefit of the neighborhood.
  • Real estate guy I guess you were talking to me and my North/South distinction. I'll continue to use the wording that I see fit, and I respect your right to do the same. You still didn't answer my question. You didn't list any of our business on this side of the neighborhood, so I thought I would ask whether they could join the meeting. Since you mentioned that the alliance was for businesses between Franklin and Malcolm X, I thought that there might be a northern boundary as well. The question wasn't meant to make you angry, it was just for clarification.
  • Changeling you didn't anger me; it is always dissappointing when someone needs A 90210 to identify them. We are open to all in Bed Stuy who care, respect and want to improve the quality of life in Bed Stuy. They are welcome to join us for dinner at Le Toukouleur on Sat. at 8:00pm to meet a few of the owners of the Bedford Stuyvesant Business Alliance and you and are also welcome. We are inclusive and have high standards -take a look at Common Grounds on Tompkins bet. Putnam and Jefferson- for our membership.
  • P.S.
Please check out the Jazz Spot for live jazz after dinner at le toukouleur, they are on Marcus Garvey doors from Dekalb 375 Kosciuszko or Afroart and Design at 316 Stuyvesant near Halsey - tell Shonda Leo sent you.

This is not a community event per se this is the Bedford Stuyvesant Business Alliance at work in the community, and residents should come and support a business like Le Toukouleur in their "nabe". If you can't make it send your friends.
  • Thanks, realestate guy. I'll definitely notify some of the business owners I know and send them the details on this event.
