Physical Therapists in Brooklyn
Hi, I'm looking for a good physical therapist (knee related) in Park Slope, Brooklyn Hts or Cobble Hill area. Has anyone used:
- Metro Sports on 7th Avenue
- Profitness Physical Therapy on Court Street
- Brooklyn Heightsts Physical Therapy on Joralemon?
If so, what are your thoughts -- good? bad? Would you recommend them?
TIA!

Subject: PT in Brooklyn
Hi, I dont know if you're looking at other options, but I used One on One PT in Joralemon (inside Equinox) for running related injuries and I'd recommend them 100%.

It all depends on your injury to be honest. I've been to Brooklyn Heights PT and they are ok, but a small facility. Basically just two or three rooms. No equipment there to strengthen your muscles, which may be necessary depending on what your doctor wants. If your doctor just precribes deep tissue massage and heat/ice etc. . . they will work. But I have been to tons of PT's and they were not one of my favorites.

Thanks for the responses. I think I do need to strengthen my muscles so that is good info on Brooklyn Hts PT.

When I had ACL surgery, I used Park Slope Physical Therapy on Plaza Street East - they were so attentive and fantastic. I was there for 7 months, two or three times a week, and they did so much for me. They had a treadmill, a bike, weights, Pilates stuff, Stairmaster - it was wonderful.

Brooklyn Heights PT doesn't do enough exercises or massage for my liking. I went for awhile but the home exercises I got from a 2nd round at a different facility were more effective and varied - felt much stronger after going somewhere else. They are ok but not great.

Hey Wally -- How was the surgery? Did you like the doctor? Hospital?

I didn't have surgery, it was resolved by a 2nd more thorough round of PT.

I just started at Metro Sports. My PT is nice enough, and the location is sooo convenient. My only concern is, every appointment I've had seems to be a "shared appointment", where my PT is booked for two to three patients at a time. I'll be given an exercise to do and then the PT will go work on another patient while I'm doing it. I get minimal feedback.
Maybe this is normal-can someone shed light on their PT experience? It wasn't bothersome... until another therapist actually saw me doing an exercise and said my form was completely wrong, and I would mess up my neck if I kept doing it. -

Hi...I'm a physical therapist in Park Slope. Treatments should be one-on-one, unless maybe you are close to being discharged and you mostly do exercises/need a little manual therapy. Maybe then your appointment might be shared with one other person. I believe in manual therapy and lots of education for the patient on what to do at home or at the gym, etc. This is what quality care treatment is about. Hope this helps with your decision of where to go for treatment.
