Noisy dog in the middle of the night

For the last 2 weeks I have occasionally been woken up in we wee hours of the morning by a dog, somewhere around the corner of PPW and 5th street, howling and barking as if it had been locked out of it's home. It has a very annoying three-bark howl and it usually goes on for about half an hour (then I either fall back to sleep or it stops/gets in/gets chased away or something). Has anyone else heard this? Does any have a bb gun I could borrow?

Prepare to be lambasted by the humorless.

Anyhow...I think all you can do is resolve to get up some morning and track down the source. With luck, you can narrow it to an address. Then complain to 311, and get everyone that you can to complain about the same thing.

If that fails, throw some IAMS cuts and gravy out there.
  • I was actually thinking of getting up, finding the source and ringing the person's doorbell until they answered. Now... what to wear?

That works too, at least if it's a single family residence - which it likely is. Dress with distinction, but be practical.
  • I was thinking this could be a good opportunity to wear my tux, which I really regret buying and can't seen to find another use for, since I don't plan to die or get married any time soon. hopefully.
  • Or, you could put out a bowl of recalled dog food.

    Ok, I'm awful, I know.
  • I think I located that damn dog! It doesn't seem to be loose or homeless or lost, it's in the third floor window (with a light on) across from my apartment. I suspect the owners are leaving it home a lot when they're out. I think If I open the screen here a bit, and take careful aim I could hit it with a sling shot. Now, I just need a sling shot. Does the crappy Atlantic target sell them?
