Sonia Santos - Bad Lnadlord - 341 5th Avenue - 451 State St.

The owner of the buildings located at 341 5th Avenue and 451 State Street, Sonia Santos, is one of the worst slumlords I have ever heard of. If your are looking, do not rent in either of these buildings. I am in complete agreement. This woman is not only a slumlord but she's a lunatic. She "managed" a building I used to live in. I got the apartment by talking to the landlady personally, never went through Sonia. Yet she tried to charge me a fee when I signed the lease. The landlady was an old Polish woman who was a character herself. I would request repairs and she would either get her son to do it (he didn't have a clue what he was doing) or send me to Sonia. I had so many arguments with Sonia (in person and on the phone), usually her screaming obscenities at me for no good reason. She got her boyfriend (she's married) the apartment across the hall from me. They would have screaming fights at all hours of the day and night. The building was a horrendous mess. She and her boyfriend convinced the landlady to take me to court several times. All cases were thrown out, especially the one she filed in small claims court. She filed 2 suits against me for the minimum so she could keep it in small claims court. The judge practically laughed at her and told her it was illegal to do that.

I ended up moving and figured I left that mess behind. She bought the damn building next to mine! (341 5th Avenue) She saw me going into my building and must have told the landlady. My old landlady tried to sue me for $25,000 for "damages" to my old apartment. I left that place in better condition than when I moved in. The case never went through since the landlady died.

Sonia opened that terrible cafe at 341 5th Ave and is now trying to rent apartments out of the office. She has no realtor's license, she always used her boyfriend's. Now, she's using her son's license as a cover. She is vulgar, rude, greedy, and an all around horrible person. If you value your sanity do NOT have anything to do with her.

Just remembered something. Sonia's boyfriend is Gustavo Catarine, he operates Lionhead Realty at 480 6th Avenue. She was using his realtor's license for her old business Victorian Brownstone Properties (which has since closed down). He's almost as bad as she is, he's the one that lived across the hall from me.
