New Hair Stylist in PS — Brooklynian

New Hair Stylist in PS

edited November -1 in Park Slope
So this weekend I finally snapped and decided to get a haircut in PS instead of going to Aveda or Jeffery Stein Salon. Its often hard for a man to figure out how good a barber is because the majority of reviews are by women, getting colorings and blow-outs et al. But a new place just opened on 5th around 4th:

Fez Salon
718.965.1714

Rudy (the owner and main stylist) gave me a great haircut, and the interior was really minimal and cool with some nice antiques and wire sculptures that does himself. The colorist who washed my hair was a little weird, but other than that I think that I've finally found a great cut in PS. He took his time, asked questions, and even offered suggestions which I really like because I like to try different things.

Just FYI (esp. to the dudes out there) 8)

  • was it reasonably priced?
i've been going to a great place in brooklyn heights for the past 5 years, but i'd love to find a place close by me in ps if/when i can't get over there...

mine is almost 30 bucks, which seems pretty good to me...
  • Its $40 flat for the cut, and I gave a 10 dollar tip, not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive I've gone too.

Update: My hair is growing in nicely.
  • I saw Rudy also. I have long layered hair with bangs (I'm not a dude), and was desperate for a trim. He did a good job and charged me $40, which is super cheap.

    He's very nice, too.
  • $40? Damn! I went to the other place a block or two away from Fez- Maria's maybe? I paid $16 which included the wash. Great haircut.
  • But do you have long lustrous locks? Hmmm?
  • Fortunatey I don't! I get the "#2 on the sides and trim the top" cut.
  • hmm..does he do color? I got my haircut at harmony and I love Jo and Louis, but I pay about $80 per cut. (I have rather long hair). I'm just afraid to try new people because I've had a bad haircut once when I went to a random salon.
  • Apparently he does, but this was a risky venture and I wasn't willing to go that far (last time I experimented there was a tearful scene at Le Chandelier ).

When my color starts looking dreadful enough I'll probably go back and give Rudy a try.
