Subject: 2 Evicted Cats FREE... but wait! there's more!!!

...About 4 weeks ago the guy in the apartment next to me got kicked out... he left behind 2 kittens in the apartment. a girl and a boy cat.
the super's handyman came by a few days later, found them and threw them out the window

Since then, they've been living on the fire-escape. going up and down each flight begging for food. i made them a temporary shelter out of a box stuffed with towels and sweaters... and that's where they've been sleeping since

They need a real home. i have a critically ill dog i'm nursing back to health right now and taking in these cats is not an option for me at this time

They're both tabby's with a mix of calico. here are some pictures. if you're interested/questions please PM me or forward this page to anyone you think might be interested

this is the boy cat. he has no name except for "yo cat!"...

image
he's been staying around longer. she is always around. him not so much

image
this is the boy cat. he's smaller and has a thin calico streak down his sides

image
he's wary but he'll take food from my hand

image
the girl cat is VERY friendly. she prefers fancy feast. the flaky kind -- as she keeps one ear out for the dog...

image
her coat is very pretty. red and black mottled along with tabby. it's growing in nice and plush

image
"what do you think?"

image
she prefers a rub over a cup full of kibble.

Can i trust you?

Again, if you're interested/questions please PM me or forward this page to anyone you think might be interested

peace! and thanks...

  • This is really sad. Do you have them on the waiting list at a no kill shelter/animal adoption service? BARC? Bide-A-Wee? ASPCA? Animal Haven? Kitty Kind? North Shore? Have you called 5th Avenue Cat Clinic or Hope Veterinary Clinic to see if they will take them in? Do you have a friend that can take them in temporarily? Hopefully they are neutered or there are going to be more than two cats on your fire escape in the near future. Worst case scenario, I would call Animal Care and Control; they will pick them up. This is no way for domesticated cats to live.
  • And p.s., what your neighbor did is illegal. Please report him for animal cruelty to the ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement:

    [email protected] or (212) 876-7700, ext. 4450.
  • Please don't forget to give them fresh, clean water too.

They are adorable. I hope they find a good home soon
  • If I didn't just get a new foster tonight I would totally take them in! They are adorable, what is wrong with people? You should definitely report that guy. Thanks for taking care of them, quijibo, I know you have your hands full right now. =D>
  • quijibo, check your PM.
  • I can't thank Caseopele enough for helping find a home for the 2 cats

You are a very good, and kind soul.

    =D> =D> =D>
  • YAY, CASEOPELE!!!!!

    image
  • A huge YAY and THANK YOU to caseopele! You're the best!!

Caseopele is going to foster these cats until a "forever home" is found. Please spread the word and PM her if you know of anyone interested in adopting two wonderful cats!
  • Yay, Caseopele! I know that you'll find them a good place to live. They're gorgeous!
  • You guys are making me blush!

The kitties are settling in incredibly well, I thought they might balk at being confined. I guess the warm dry beds, plentiful food, and attention are making up for it. The boy is really liking his carrier so I've left it in there for him to hide in. He's already coming out when I'm in there though, especially when I bring them wet food. He is all about the food, I've taken several pictures of him and he's eating in all of them. He's actually been letting me pet him with a few half-hearted hisses in between. The girl is very friendly, she just flops over for petting when I get near her. She's discovered the window with the blanket in it and has been staring at the birds. Here are 2 pics of them:

They will probably go to the vet next Tuesday. Keep your fingers crossed that the girl is just chubby! [-o<
  • aww. they're gorgeous. good luck!
  • I just want to kiss their noses. They look nice and comfy, and a much better home than the fire escape (and kudos to Q for making even a fire escape a better place to be).
  • Let me tell you guys about quijibo. He had a box set up on the fire escape with towels and food and water. He had a litter box for when the girl would come in his apartment. Toys, cat scratcher, a really cool self-cleaning brush, catnip, and a bed! When the storm ruined the kitties box he put together another one wrapped in plastic. These kitties were extremely lucky he was looking out for them. After I took them last night he had to wash the floor with bleach to keep Kika from catching anything from them. With her immune system compromised she can't afford to get sick now.

So, go quijibo! If it wasn't for him who knows where these cuties would have ended up?
  • awww! what a sweet pea!
  • Ok guys, I need your help! Kitties need temporary names, I'm currently calling them Tiny Harlot and Mr. Dainty Pants. I know I am a very strange person! So here's what I've learned about them:

    Tiny Harlot
Extremely affectionate and totally shameless. When I pet her she flops over and starts kneading the air. When I pet the boy she butts in like he's not even there. Likes to cover her and her brother's food with toys and my bath mat. Prefers Meow Mix to Felidae or Wellness. Beautiful girl, big paws, likes to explore and isn't afraid of much.

    Mr. Dainty Pants
So misunderstood! Smaller than the girl, dainty legs and paws, nose and chin like a lion and very sweet. Is used to being pushed aside by his sister, hisses impotently to make himself feel manly and is shy but affectionate. Tiny Harlot will lay in his box and he just waits until she moves. Loves to eat! I have many pictures of him eating, I have to hold the food over his head to get one of his face.

Any ideas? I really appreciate any suggestions, thanks! :D
  • Caseopele is now in search of two female names for her foster cats. Mr. Dainty Pants has turned out to be a girl.

This dynamic duo is at the vet clinic today getting the works done. They will be ready for adoption as soon as they recuperate. Spread the word!
  • Baby Jane and Blanche?
    Big Edie and Little Edie?
    Liza and Judy?

I'll check back later. I do my best work at night :-)
  • Man, Leozoeypiper, you are quick! Thanks!

Yes folks, I the crazy cat lady failed to remember that virtually all calicos are female. Maybe I should resign? So, Mr. Dainty Pants is now Miss Dainty Petticoat. Although they both turned out to be pregnant so perhaps it should be Miss Dainty Harlot. Poor girls!

They'll be home tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed that they pass all their tests!
  • Preggers! Whoa........

How about Britney and Paris? (poor kitties)
  • How about Harley + Quinn?
  • Thanks for the suggestions! I guess their relationship is different now that I know they're both girls. TH is the older wanton sister leading her shy younger sister into a life of depravity!

I had a feeling TH was preggers but I have no idea how to tell. I sort of wish there were 3 of them, then I could name them Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. Don't tell but I still love Sleeping Beauty! Only the 1959 version though.
  • "ay lutthhyyy!!"

    lucy and ethel

    or lindsay and nicole...
  • damn, they don't really look like calicos. but personally, I love 2 female cat combos. alafair and lupita were giant lesbians. after I got ifa (when I had to put alafair to sleep), lupita turned vaguely straight. but she doesn't just accept the affection from her fellow cat - she fights back!
  • one time when it was raining
i went to feed them on the fire escape,
and they were all huddled up inside the box
with a mean black and white feral cat

his ears were half-gone from all his fights
i bet you these two girls shared the same romeo :-k
  • Wilma and Betty
    Alice and Trixie
  • Helen and Clytemnestra
  • Q, you're probably right! Knocked up by a roaming tomcat, how sordid.

I'm torn between Alice & Trixie and Helen & Clytemnestra. Wait, Alice just reminded me of something! (IMDB is my friend) Vera and Flo!
  • It looks like they went with Alice and Trixie, Alice being the shyer one. The girls are home from their horrible vet ordeal, none the worse for wear but very hungry. I had to take them to Animal Kind since Slope Street Cats has an account there and they give them discounts. Unfortunately, they make up for them by padding the bill. My first experience with them 10 years ago was enough to make me never take my pets back. This one just confirmed my opinion of them. One example were the $12 ecollars they charged us for but neglected to give me.

Anyway, A & T are doing well. Stuffing themselves and making a mess of my freshly cleaned bathroom. I am now convinced that girl cats are messier than boy cats. My girls are total pigs, fortunately A & T aren't quite as bad. :) Alice has actually come out of her shell a bit and is very affectionate. She actually moved in on Trixie's wet food twice and Trixie let her! I'm so glad I got the chance to know these special girls, they are such sweeties.
  • Yay! Alice and Trixie it is!

    When are the babies coming?
