BOREUM HILL—Feds have closed down Jamaican restaurant Brawta on Hoyt Street and Atlantic Avenue. Sayeth a sad reader, "This was one of my favorite jamaican restaurants. it's on Hoyt and Atlantic in Boerum Hill Brooklyn. In any case, I walked by today and took a double take: 2 federal agents were at the door and a big neon colored sign that said SEIZED was on the window. I got a closer look and it said for failure to pay their taxes! Bummer...." [EaterWire Inbox]
I haven't been for a few years, but those ladies used to be very nice....
Stir It Up! is the spot on Atlantic Ave now. Sorry Brawta. Hope everything works out for you.

  • I’m sorry to hear it’s gone as well, but I must admit I like Stir it Up better; the food is good and the ladies are nice – all be it the service is slow.
Brawta as just hipper, the quality wasn’t any better. Also, last time we had dinner there and we weren’t informed that the credit card machine wasn’t working (no signs posted) until we were preparing to pay for our meal. Normally, unless there is an apparent ‘cash only’ policy, the server will let you know a head of time. Yes, I was annoyed
