Green-Wood Cherry Trees better than BBG! Go this w-end!!

(taken yesterday next to Battle Hill in GWC)
At their peak this weekend! Not to bash BBG, but Green-Wood has better, older and quite frankly, a larger selection of flowering cherry trees (and other flowering trees and greenery...478 acres, over 10 times the size of BBG).
So if you want to beat the BBG crowds or want a double shot of spring blossom beauty, heat to Green-Wood.
I'm lucky, I get to look at it all day long!
And heck, I'm biased

Very nice! I was going to go there anyway to cart home more mulch, so thanks for giving me a reason to stroll around first! And I think you tipped me off to the mulch, too, so THANK YOOOOOU!!!!! You're so damn helpful its frightening.

i bet people are dying to get in -
mulch? what is this mulch you speak of?
I was going to go buy mulch from Lowe's next weekend, but Green-Wood is just a block away.... -
Don't let the weather throw off your game this weekend. Sunday is supposed to be lovely!
Mulch can be obtained year round for FREE inside the 25th St./5th Ave entrance, take the first left. -
LiGH, we need an update.
Did last week's weather blow all the petals to the ground?
Most of BBG just went into first bloom . . .

Cherries are IN FULL BLOOM TODAY! Don't miss-out...(sounding like a car ad here
) -
I went on Saturday and it was really nice. Plenty of trees not yet past peak. I am a crazy maniac, so I went to Shannon's nursery on the Fort Hamilton ave side, bought some stuff, and walked alllll the way to the 5th ave side through the cemetery with my cart in tow.

I went Yesterday, spent about 3 h in there.
Its like being in a different world.
A nice man at the gate gave us a map which helped tremendously.
Next week Ill bring some bread for the Ducks, they seemed dissapointed we didnt have any.
Guess this is gorgeous in the wintertime as well when all is snowy. -
Note to all: you can ALWAYS ask for a Green-Wood map at the 25th St. entrance, or the others, if they are open. generally 25th St and 34th St (at 4th Ave) are always open. The other two gates are TBA.
The main office also has walking tour books and The History of Green-Wood Cemetery book (among others) on sale in the main office.
My fav place, if you hadn't noticed
-
PS. quite a few of the cherries are still in full bloom. So if you have the day/afternoon off (they are open till 7pm now) go for a stroll!

Just saw a sign this morning about a Memorial Day concert in GWC.
Anyone have some more details about that? -
