Prospect Park Question

Hello,

I'm considering moving into a place on Ocean Ave a few minutes of a walk south of the Prospect Park stop on the Q. Was just wondering about the safety of the area. I'm not too familiar with Brooklyn. Would it be safe if I'm walking back from the Q at 1:30 am on a Saturday? Or if there's anything else that anyone could share about the area that would be great.

It is safe. Just walk real fast.

If you're a strong male, you'd probably be OK. But I wouldn't chance it if I were a female. Pick someplace closer to a B line train station if you're looking in that area. Perhaps Ditmas Park.

No you wouldn't be safe if you were female, a male without your trained to kil pit bull.... Come one 1;30 am... take a cab home, have triple locks on your doors.. re consider moving to this neighborhood.

Its a big city full of things going on and crime can really just happen anywhere.

I agree with this to a certain extent.

You should be OK. I used to hang in the Prospect Park area a lot, and never had a prob (then again, I am a fairly large male).

If you're unsure, I would suggest checking out crime stats or chat it up with someone in the local police precinct.

I currently live exactly where you are talking about. I know of a few females who live around here and they are fine. Just expect some cat calls but that is the same anywhere in new york. The crime over the summer can get out of hand but most of it is gang related.

Bethlehem is in the West Bank... you have to go through several check points to get there from Jerusalem, the buildings are nice but are a little run down, and there is always the risk of armed attack.

Actually that sounds like the Prospect Park Q area...
